Light curves

One GRB's light curve at different energies:

grb_8121: 20-50 keV

grb_8121: 50-100 keV

grb_8121: 100-300 keV

grb_8121: >300 keV

Spectra

Note different vertical axes!

Two types

Afterglows

X-ray afterglow spectrum from Swift (launched 2004).

Optical afterglow light curves

GRB991208: Including host galaxy (upper curve)

GRB991208 and GRB990123

Amateur finds GRB afterglow!

Evidence for supernova connection (only for long-soft?).

Redshifts and host galaxies

GRB990123: prompt optical emission reached 9th magnitude! (z=1.6!)

GRB (at least the long-soft ones) tend to occur in star-forming regions.

About 80 known.
